The Thunderbolt Junior Varsity team evened their record at 1-1-0 with a resounding 5-1 victory over Wheeler. While receiving solid efforts in goal by Mustafa Abbas and Luis Samayoa-Illescas, the Bolt struck for five goals by Albert Lopez (2), Carlos Andrade, Noah Sylva and Louis Reyes. Garnering assists were Josue Molina, Mario Meletz and Noah Sylva. |
Cranston East 4 West Warwick 0:
The Cranston East JV squad moved to 2-1-0 on the year with a 4-0 win over West Warwick. Goalkeepers, Mustafa Abbas and Luis Samayoa-Illescas, combined for their first shutout of the year. Defensively, the Green and White received solid efforts from Josue Molina, Louis Reyes, Joe Lenk and Carter Wolf. Offensively, they were led by Mario Meletz (two goals), Carlos Andrade (one goal), Jonathan Soberanis (one goal and one assist) and Albert Lopez (one assist). |
Cranston East 3 Prout 1:
After taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, Cranston East scored two more goals to pick up the victory over the Crusaders of Prout. Scoring for the Bolt JV were Carlos Andrade, Albert Lopez and Mario Meletz. Jonathan Soberanis picked up the only assist of the game. Mustafa Abbas picked up the victory with four saves in goal. Getting strong play from their defenders, Cranston East shutout the Mounties of Mt. St. Charles, 2-0, for their first road win of the year. Despite playing on a wet surface, the Bolt were able to take a 2-0 lead on goals by Josue Molina and Carlos Andrade (assist by Molina). The quintet of Beholdsen Plymouth, Carter Wolf, Joe Lenk, Louis Reyes and Jacob Hyun enabled goalkeepers Luis Samayoa-Illescas and Mustafa Abbas to pick up the shutout. Cranston East 1 Chariho 0:
Playing in rainy conditions, the Bolt JV scored a goal in the second half and picked up their third consecutive shutout with a 1-0 victory over the Chargers of Chariho. Cristian Meletz found Albert Lopez in the box for the winning goal. Luis Samayoa-Illescas continued his hot play in net with five saves for the shutout. |
Cranston East 2 North Smithfield 2:
In a battle from start to finish, the Cranston East Junior Varsity team was able to pull off a 2-2 tie on the road against North Smithfield. Albert Lopez and Josue Molina picked up first half goals for the Bolt with Cristian Mestre assisting on one of the goals. Luis Samayoa-Illescas stopped three shots in the second half to preserve the tie. Cranston East 3 Narragansett 0:
The Thunderbolt won their second consecutive game with a 3-0 victory at Narragansett. Luis Samayoa-Illescas, who made three saves in the game, picked up the shutout. Joe Lenk and Mario Meletz scored first half goals to give CHSE JV a 2-0 lead at intermission. Albert Lopez provided the Bolt with an insurance goal in the second half.
