‘Bolts down PCD in annual Injury Fund, 1-0!

     Fueled by a strong defense, Cranston East defeated the Knights of Providence Country Day , 1-0, in the annual RIIL Injury Fund games. 
     In a game that was only fifty minutes long (two 25-minute halves), the Thunderbolts broke the scoreless tie with a second half goal from sophomore Michael Ogunmola (assist from Max Soch).

Bolts tie Chieftans, 1-1!

     The Thunderbolt and Chieftans played to a 1-1 tie in their Crossover League Game. 
     Leading 1-0 midway through the second half, Ponaganset received a penalty kick due to a handball in the box.
     Cranston East's lone goal scorer was senior captain Fabricio Mariscal.  
     In goal, freshman Alvaro "Junior" Ortega-Reyes had seven saves and sophomore Max Catrambone finished the final twenty minutes with six saves to preserve the tie.  

Bolts down Kilties for first league win of the year!  

      Cranston East, who had not played Mt. Pleasant since 2021, renewed their seasonal play with the Thunderbolt overcoming a 1-0 deficit to win their second game of the year,  5-1.  
     Scoring goals for the Thunderbolt were Fabricio Mariscal (2), Jeff Derosier, Mateo Zurita and Gabriel Leon.  
     Assists were awarded to Jordan Alvarez (2), Heber Estrada, Michael Ogunmola and Mariscal.  
     Alvaro "Junior" Ortega-Reyes picked up his first career league win with five saves.  
 

Panthers hold off Thunderbolts, 2-1!

      After scoring the go ahead goal late in the first half, the Panthers of Johnston held off Cranston East for a 2-1 victory.  
     Freshman Goalkeeper Alvaro "Junior" Ortega-Reyes played well for the Green and White with a career high 12 saves.  
     In fact, before the Panthers took a one goal lead into intermission, he made a stellar save that hit the crossbar before junior Sebastian Saucedo scored with ten seconds left in the frist half.  
     Down 1-0, 'Bolt senior Fabricio Mariscal lasered a 40 yard shot past the Panther goalkeeper with 9:05 remaining in the first half.  

Wizards down Bolts in 
​league opener!

     The West Warwick Wizards snapped a five game losing streak at Cranston Stadium with a 4-1 win over Cranston East in their league opener. 
    Senior Gabe Leon broke the shutout with a goal late in the second half. 

Talented Avengers shutout undermanned Bolts, 5-0!

     Missing six players,  the Thunderbolt were no match for Division II favorite East Greenwich in a 5-0 road loss. 
     It was the first road loss to the Avengers since the Division Two Quarterfinals in 2020.  
    First year senior,  Saeed Sorio, made 8 saves in the second half for Cranston East.

     The 'Bolts, who once had a 31-game streak without  being issued a card from 2013-2015, received the Division Two Sportsmanship Team of the Year in 2023.  They have averaged less than four cards per year over the past twelve years (205 games played).                                                                                                                              10-24-24

Leon and Mariscal lead East past Mt. Pleasant, 2-1!

     Seniors Gabe Leon and Fabricio Mariscal each scored first half goals and freshman Alvaro "Junior" Ortega-Reyes had ten saves to lead Cranston East to a 2-1 victory over Mt. Pleasant.  
     The 'Bolt, who outshot the Red and Blue, 22-9, in the first half, held off a strong second half surge by the Kilties.  
      East took an early 1-0 lead when sophomore Michael Ogunmola sent a pass into the box to Leon who beat the keeper to his left.  
     One minute later with 31:57 to play, Mariscal lined a 35th yard shot past the Kiltie Keeper for a 2-0 lead.

Thunderbolt beat Eagles
in the rain, 9-2!

      The Thunderbolt bounced back from a loss to Shea with a 9-2 victory over the second year Eagles of Times Squared.  
​     Scoring for Cranston East were  Fabricio Mariscal (2 goals & 2 assists), Gabe Leon (2 goals), Elijah Meinel, Aaron Morales, Saeed Sorio, Jeff Derosier and Jordan Alvarez.  

     Michael Ogunmola, Herbert Silva and Heber Estrada each had one assist. 
     Sorio, who played most of the match in goal, picked up the victory with three saves.

Smithfield outscores East, 4-1!

     Despite outshooting their opponents, 19-9, Cranston East lost 4-1 to Smithfield.
     Senior goalkeeper, Jack Mayer (12 saves) and senior striker, Nicholas Ferro (4 goals) helped the Sentinels pull away from East in the second half after being deadlocked, 1-1, at intermission. 
     With 19 minutes left in the first half, Fabricio Mariscal lined a 35 yard shot past Mayer for the only goal of the game for the Thunderbolt.   

Thunderbolts beat
​Titans, 1-0!

     Playing on back to back days, Cranston East improved their league record to 4-5-1 (5-5-1) with a tough 1-0 win over the Titans of Toll Gate.  
     Sophomore Michael Ogunmola scored the winning goal after receiving a perfectly timed pass by Fabricio Mariscal with 7:39 left in the match.
     The 'Bolt, who outshot their opponents, 24-11, received a solid effort by senior goalkeeper Saeed Sorio (four saves).

Chargers outduel Bolts, 5-3!

     Although the Thunderbolt scored three goals in their match against Chariho, they could not stop the Chargers attack in a 5-3 loss at Cranston Stadium. 
     Seniors Farbricio Mariscal (2 goals) and Aaron Morales (1 goal)
 kept the Green and White close until the final two minutes of the game.
     Freshman goalkeeper, Alvaro Ortega-Reyes had twelve saves. 

Cranston East and Pilgrim play to a 0-0 tie!

      Freshman goalkeeper Alvaro "Junior" Ortega-Reyes continued his solid play as the goalkeeper for Cranston East by earning a shutout with nine saves in a 0-0 tie against the Patriots of Pilgrim.  
     Senior Elijah Meinel, junior Aniel Rodriguez, senior Darlyn Coque and sophomore Max Catrambone played well defensively for the Thunderbolt. 

Thunderbolt tie Oakers, 3-3!

     In a a "must" win game, the Thunderbolt came from behind to tie the two-time Division II Finalist, Coventry, 3-3, in a game played on grass. 
     With less than five minutes to play, sophomore Matteo Zurita sent a ball from 35 yards out, just past the Oaker keeper in the top right corner.  
     Scoring first half goals for Bolt were seniors Elijah Meinel (assist by Michael Ogunmola) and Gabriel Leon (assist by Meinel).

West escapes with
​1-0 win over East!

      Regardless of how a teams are competing in the fall, Cranston East and Cranston West always give the City of Cranston a great match to see. 
     Although the Falcons, who participate in Division I, came into the game heavily favored, they had to rely on a their tough backline of defenders and solid goalkeeping to edge the Thuderbolt, 1-0. 
     The lone goal for West happened 90 seconds into the game when junior Alejandro Molina stole an errant pass and blasted a 20 yard shot by East's goalkeeper, Alvaro Ortega-Reyes, who had nine saves on the night. 

East comes from behind to tie Panthers, 2-2!

     Two days after playing in their annual City Cup game, Cranston East had to come from behind to earn a 2-2 tie against the Panthers of Johnston.  
     As has been the norm for several years after a City Cup match, East came out flat and fell behind 2-0 before coming alive.  
     Michael Ogunmola scored the first goal for the Thunderbolt when he took a punt from goalkeeper Alvaro Ortega-Reyes and stormed into the box before getting a shot past the Panther goaleeper.  
     After Camden Fermin (assist by Denis Lopez) scored on a corner kick to tie the game, 2-2,  the Thunderbolt had two goals taken away with under ten minutes to play on offside calls.
